Who is Gen Z?
Gen Z or the Gen Zers, with more than a third of the world’s population, is the newest generation, born between 1997 and 2012. They are right now somewhere in the range of 6 and 24 years of age. They are tech-savvy, excel by working autonomously, and demand an adaptable schedule. Though they are most likely to opt for self-employed entrepreneurs as their careers rather than being employed, this young generation is venturing into the workforce as well as leadership soon, it is most likely to be followed by the occurrence of vast changes. They have diverse career goals; they prefer personal connections in the job search as they have wide social networks. They ask for what they need right away.
What does Gen Z need?
Feedback – NextGen believes in feedback at all levels. Annual evaluations won’t suffice their needs; they would need weekly measurable feedback. Creating action plans, tracking performance, coaching, and communicating is what they want.
Transparency – Gen Zers are skeptical as they are active social media users. They are up to date on workplace trends and would prefer not to be exploited in the work environment. Many don’t even permit their emotions to meddle with their work. Straightforwardness is essential for Gen z.
Healthy workplace relations – Gen Z prefers human interaction; not just on-screen or telephonic conversations. They need real-time discussions. They might be the digital generation but still prefer the human element. They want healthy relationships with coworkers and leaders.
EQ – They need to constantly work on their EQ. They need more assistance in developing their correspondence and interaction abilities while perceiving a more noteworthy requirement for creating empathy.
Diversity – Gen Z believes in diversity for growth, searching for better incorporation and diversity from their employers. They make sure to eliminate biases and bring reasonableness to their organizations.
Flexibility – Gen Z does well with the flexible work culture. Work-life balance is much more significant than the compensation for this generation.
Clarity – Gen Z prefers to understand beforehand what’s expected of them in the workplace. A platform for two-way communication, easy access to resources and data is preferable to this gen.
Tech – The gen z workforce is highly tech-savvy. They are social media experts, completely comfortable with high-level programs beneficial for their job role. Up-to-date technology at the workplace is most likely to be a motivation for this gen.
THE FUTURE WORKFORCE
Gen Zers are soon going to venture onto the corporate world stage, the effect of their entrance will be quick and significant, changing the work environment, technology, culture, demand-supply, consumption, and retail. Gen Z is highly influenced by external social factors. They would prefer distributed learning, hesitant to put in the hard work preferring precise cut short things. Generation Z will in general be smart, inquisitive, imaginative, innovative, and entrepreneurial. They would appreciate immediate rewards not based on time.
